Who runs this website

Drive Phuket publishes phukethirecar.com, a website that compares rental cars offered by independent suppliers operating in Phuket and elsewhere in Thailand. We act as the data controller for the information described on this page. For anything you supply while completing a booking with a rental partner, that partner is the controller and its own policy applies.

What we collect, and why

Three kinds of information reach us. The first is what you enter in the search form: pickup and drop off point, dates and times. We send that to our search partner so it can return live availability, and we keep a copy in your own browser for a few minutes so the same search does not run again on every page you open.

The second is technical: an IP address, a browser and device type, the page you arrived from and the pages you opened. This is ordinary server and analytics data, used to keep the site working and to understand which pages people find useful.

The third is anything you send us yourself, such as an email or a review submitted through the review form. We use it to reply and for nothing else.

Our legal basis

Running the search and showing you results is our legitimate interest in operating the service you came here for, and it is also necessary to take steps at your request before a rental contract is formed. Analytics and any non essential cookie run on consent, which you can give or withhold when the notice appears and change afterwards in your browser. Where we keep correspondence to meet an accounting or legal duty, the basis is legal obligation.

Who else sees your data

Search and booking data passes to our car rental technology partner, which returns the live listings and hosts the booking step. When you choose a car, you continue on that partner's platform and enter your name, licence details and payment information there, not here.

We also rely on ordinary infrastructure providers: a hosting company, a content delivery network that serves images and protects the site, and an analytics service. We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Where data is processed

The site serves visitors worldwide and the suppliers are in Thailand, so data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission, or on an adequacy decision covering the destination country.

How long we keep things

Search parameters cached in your browser expire within minutes and are cleared when you clear site data. Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded. Email correspondence is kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you write again about the same booking.

Your rights

If the GDPR or a comparable law applies to you, you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and ask for your data in a portable form. You can also withdraw consent for analytics at any time without affecting what happened before.

Send any of these requests to [email protected]. We reply within one month. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

Children

Renting a car requires a full driving licence, so this site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when the way the site works changes. The review date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes are described in the text rather than hidden in a summary line.
